2026 Impact - P154 - Linking Insights, Communication and Ownership To Elevate Patient Experience - On Demand
Improving patient experience metrics can be challenging, given the multiple stakeholders involved and the many variables shaping each patient’s experience. We share a real-world example from an acute care unit at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In this example, data-guided interventions (e.g., enhanced patient experience coordinator rounding, communication training for staff and structured discharge phone calls) produced sustainable increases across multiple key Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) domains over a 12-month period. Attendees will gain practical insights into strategies that build local ownership, address barriers, and support continuous improvement in patient experience and quality.
