Take a Deep Breath: The Role of ICS/LABA for Rescue/As Needed Use in Asthma

The purpose of this activity is to review the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, and management of asthma in adults. Specifically, treatment will focus on the rescue and as needed use of inhaled corticosteroids in combination with long acting beta agonists. The safety of short acting beta agonists as monotherapy will also be addressed. This activity will focus on reviewing clinical trials and systematic review articles to describe the appropriate use of as needed budesonide in combination with formoterol in mild asthma.
