Salty or Sweet? Hyperosmolar Therapy for the Treatment of Cerebral Edema

The purpose of this activity is to review the differences between the two agents, review the guideline recommendations, and review literature regarding the use of these medications in patients with traumatic brain injury, ischemic stroke, and intracerebral hemorrhage. Following the review participants will have the information to know situations when hypertonic saline or mannitol may be the preferred agent.
