The purpose of this activity is to review the 5 Ws of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). What is PrEP, why take PrEP, who should take PrEP, where to get PrEP, and when to stop PrEP. This course will provide pharmacists and pharmacy technicians with current practice guidelines and recommendations to help ensure safe, optimal, and ideal patient care practice. Moreover, the course will review therapies for PrEP. Specifically, treatment will focus on long-acting injectable form of PrEP, cabotegravir.

  1. Review and discuss current recommendations in PrEP
  2. Discover the 5 Ws for starting and stopping PrEP
  3. Compare and contrast daily oral administration of PrEP and long-acting injectable PrEP.

  1. Identify medications used for PrEP including cabotegravir.
