More Than Just Methadone: Analyzing MAT for Opioid Use Disorder

This activity will address knowledge gaps that exists with medication assisted therapy for opioid use disorder dosing, monitoring, and regulations. The presentation will go over several aspects of medication assisted therapy such as dosing and monitoring for buprenorphine, methadone, and ER naltrexone. Additionally, the presentation will address legal regulations behind the three medications and how they affect prescribing in the hospital.

  1. Describe the epidemiology of opioid use disorder its impact on the healthcare system.
  2. Compare and contrast medication assisted therapies used in opioid use disorder. 
  3. Analyze literature surrounding medication assisted therapy in opioid use disorder.

  1. Discuss opioid use disorder and its impact on patient care.
  2. Identify medications used for the treatment of opioid use disorder.
