Intra-Operative IV Methadone to Reduce Post-Operative Opioid Use

This activity will provide education regarding the use of IV methadone intra-operatively for analgesia. I will explain the mechanism of action of methadone, the safety and efficacy noted in clinical trials, and the theories as to why IV methadone may reduce post-operative opioid exposure. I will also highlight the current practice of pain control in the intra-operative and post-operative setting.
