COVID-19 in Pediatrics: A discussion of current variants, treatments, and vaccinations

The purpose of this activity is to provide pediatric-focused education designed to increase knowledge and improve patient care skills.  Following this presentation, the audience will gain knowledge about pediatric COVID-19 complications (MIS-C), pediatric COVID-19 treatment options, updated information regarding the COVID-19 variants and pediatric vaccinations.

Learning Objectives

  1. Review the pathophysiology of COVID-19 in pediatrics
  2. Review background on current treatments for COVID-19 and MIS-C
  3. Review the EUA drug approvals and associated literature to identify high risk patients most likely to benefit from therapy
  4. Identify new variant and mutations and how the mutations can affect pediatric patients
  5. Review the current information regarding pediatric COVID-19 vaccines
  6. Review the current information in the literature regarding COVID-19 and the pediatric population
