Cost-Effective Strategies for Wound Care Management
Participants will hear from three subject matter experts. The nurse subject matter expert will review basic pathophysiology and wound care treatments to augment and reinforce participant knowledge base. He will also review current practices within his health system. The two pharmacists will offer examples of collaboration in their practice sites and share their strategies to use cost-effective therapy. Participants will have a chance to raise questions and/or provide comments based on their own experiences during the question and answer session.

Learning Objectives
- State the common etiologies of different types of wounds encountered in the clinical setting.
- Identify patient risk factors that predispose patients to have ulcers or have poor wound healing.
- Describe various treatment modalities (both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic) for the most commonly encountered wounds.
- Identify best practices and opportunities for collaboration with wound care specialists/teams that optimize smooth transitions of care between primary care, hospitalists, and consulting teams for inpatient and outpatient care settings.
- Describe practices or procedures your health system has developed to provide cost-effective wound care therapy.
