Anticoagulation Strategies for Venous Thromboembolism in Patients with Cancer

The purpose of this activity is to describe the recommendations in guideline updates and recent landmark clinical trials regarding anticoagulation for venous thromboembolism (VTE) in patients with cancer. This activity will focus on reviewing current cancer and cardiac guideline recommendations, the results of four landmark comparative clinical trials, and appropriate direct oral anticoagulant dosing for VTE. Additionally, this activity will aim to describe the pathophysiology of thromboses in cancer as well as certain monitoring parameters that need to be accounted for in this patient population when initiating anticoagulation.
