Gastric, esophageal, and esophagogastric junction cancers represent a rapidly growing area within the oncology landscape where biomolecular targeted therapy is now being incorporated into the standard of care. This activity will review appropriate therapy based on biomolecular testing results, highlight key, clinical trial results, and explore how to manage unique toxicities of novel agents in gastric, esophageal, and gastroesophageal junction cancers.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacists should be able to:  

  • Evaluate the evolving role of biomarker testing in guiding systemic treatment selection for gastric, esophageal, and esophagogastric junction cancers.
  • Review the emerging evidence and guideline updates in gastric, esophageal, and esophagogastric junction cancers.
  • Apply evidence from landmark clinical trials to optimize therapy selection and supportive care strategies including adverse event management.

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacy technicians should be able to:  

  • Identify the name of novel agents with their corresponding drug class.
