Practical Pharmacy Sterile Compounding Training: Lesson 3, Hazardous - On Demand

The ideal goal is for pharmacy technicians and pharmacist to understand the patient safety issues associated with sterile compounding as well as the concept and importance of aseptic technique. Compounders will realize the risk of hazardous medications and how to protect themselves and other health care workers as well as adopt best practices associated with good aseptic technique for optimal safety and preferred outcomes.

This training competency series will demonstrate to the learner exactly how to safety compound hazardous and/or nonhazardous medications to abide by USP standards. There will be sections that address cleaning, garbing, aseptic technique, labeling, beyond use dates, spill control, receiving of product, and calculations needed in compounding. Each module within the series will help streamline the training process and help save valuable pharmacy resources.
