Feeling Toxic: Management of High-Dose Methotrexate Toxicity

This activity will discuss several toxicities associated with high-dose methotrexate and which patient populations are at risk for developing these toxicities. My activity will then address the several different pre-mediations and treatment options to manage these toxicities to avoid morbidity and mortality.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacists should be able to:  

  • Recognize the different toxicities associated with high-dose methotrexate 
  • Summarize the indications and dosing strategies for managements of high-dose methotrexate toxicities in the setting of primary central nervous system lymphoma 
  • Apply current literature and trials to be able to make medication recommendations 

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacy technicians should be able to:  

  • Recognize the different dosage forms of managements for high-dose methotrexate toxicities
