Novant Health, a healthcare organization with 19 acute care facilities, implemented a successful, real-world clinical variation reduction program aimed at improving patient outcomes and reducing costs of care. This program integrated pockets of excellence into a systemwide model rooted in improvement and implementation science, data analytics, change leadership and technology optimization. With a patient-centric approach, the program ensured evidence-based care, addressed workflow challenges, and empowered providers to align with clinical guidelines. In its first two years, this scalable model achieved significant success across multiple specialties, overcoming complex system challenges.
