PSO 2023 HRO AND SAFETY EDUCATION SERIES: Building capabilities for coping with and recovering from adverse events to improve patient safety outcomes

This series of activities will discuss approaches to high reliability and developing a culture of safety to identify and prevent patient harm. Subject matter experts will share innovative strategies for developing a culture of safety, analyzing safety data to target improvements, and developing metrics to monitor and improve patient safety. Topics for the series were developed based on member feedback and requests.

  • Discuss the factors impacting healthcare worker wellness, mental health and burnout
  • Identify barriers and stigmas associated with seeking help from wellness or healthcare worker support programs and how this impacts safety
  • Identify strategies for creating awareness and addressing healthcare worker wellness as a system priority
