Emily Diehl, Pharm.D.,BCPPS
I am a Pediatric Senior Pharmacy Executive with more than 20 years of experience across clinical, financial, and specialty pharmacy programs. I focus on streamlining internal processes to drive cost savings and improve overall productivity. My work includes developing cost-saving strategies for pharmaceutical supply chains through contract evaluation and application of clinical model practices. I collaborate closely with payers and revenue cycle teams to optimize drug utilization based on payer mix and formulary status, particularly for high-cost medications. I also have experience building genetic pharmacy programs and assessing both the financial and clinical impact of high-dollar therapies. Over the past 16 years, I have partnered with more than 150 provider hospitals nationwide.
I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Pharmacy, where I also worked as a genetic researcher with Children’s Mercy Hospital’s Pediatric Pharmacy Research Unit. This experience sparked my long-standing interest in genetic medicine. I further advanced my pediatric expertise through postdoctoral training at LeBonheur Children’s Hospital in collaboration with the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN. Throughout my career, I have remained actively engaged in the evolving role of genetic polymorphisms in pharmacotherapy, contributing to the implementation of innovative pharmacy programs and educating healthcare professionals on the impact of gene and cell therapies.
