WHITNEY LIMM, MD, FACS
Executive Vice President, Clinical Integration and Chief Physician Executive
Whitney Limm, M.D., FACS is the Executive Vice President of Clinical Integration and Chief Physician Executive of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS). He has been part of QHS since 1991.
In his current role as Executive Vice President of Clinical Integration and Chief Physician Executive, Dr. Limm’s areas of responsibility include the Quality, Medical Staff Services and Graduate Medical Education Departments, Diagnostic Laboratory Services as well as the Queen’s Clinically Integrated Physician Network (QCIPN).
QHS is a nonprofit corporation that was established to provide expanded health care capabilities to the people of Hawaii and the Pacific Basin. Although established in 1985, QHS’ legacy of caring for the people of Hawaii dates back to 1859, when King Kamehameha IV and Queen Emma founded The Queen’s Hospital to “stay the wasting hand,” to stem the tide of diseases during a time when epidemics were sweeping the islands.
Today, QHS is Hawaii’s oldest and preeminent family of health care-related companies that includes four hospitals on three islands, including The Queen’s Medical Center (formerly known as The Queen’s Hospital), a 575-bed acute care facility that is the state’s only Level I trauma center; more than 7,000 employees; a diagnostic laboratory; a home care agency; ambulatory care facilities; and more than 1,500 affiliated physicians and providers in its statewide network.
Dr. Limm received his Bachelor of Science degree from Stanford University and his medical degree from David Geffen School of Medicine at the University of California at Los Angeles.
Dr. Limm previously served as the Chief of General Surgery and the Medical Director of Surgery at The Queen’s Medical Center. He is the former President of the Hawaii Chapter of the American College of Surgeons. Aside from renal transplants, Dr. Limm performs many general surgery procedures. His clinical interests are in endocrine (thyroid, parathyroid) and hernia surgery).
He is an Associate Professor of Surgery at the John A. Burns School of Medicine at the University of Hawaii, where he is actively involved in the teaching of medical students and residents. Dr. Limm also serves on the ‘Iolani School Board of Governors. He was named the Hawaii Medical Association’s Physician of the Year in 2024 and has been consistently recognized in Honolulu Magazine’s list of Best Doctors in Hawaii.
