CardioCare: Aspirin’s Guardian Role in Heart Health
This activity will develop the knowledge of the role of aspirin for primary prevention of cardiovascular diseases. This presentation will present the current guidelines and literature available and dive deeper into where the recommendations developed from. Learners will be able to apply the current guidelines and use literature to help guide the decision of what patient population should be initiated with low-dose aspirin.

At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacists should be able to:
- Describe the role of aspirin for primary prevention of CVD (cardiovascular disease).
- Review the current guidelines and available literature to make a recommendation for aspirin use in primary prevention of CVD.
- Identify when aspirin for primary prevention of CVD is indicated based on age and risk versus benefit evaluation.
At the conclusion of this activity, pharmacy technicians should be able to:
- Explain the epidemiology of CVD in the United States.
- Define primary prevention for CVD.
