Old Drug, New Tricks? Ketamine for the Treatment of Resistant Depression

This presentation will address the available current literature for safety, efficacy, and cost of ketamine infusion therapy for treatment resistant depression. Ketamine’s implication in treating resistant depression has captured interest since the late 1990’s. Recently, more studies have been published regarding ketamine infusions for safe, effective, durable, and cost-effective treatment for resistant depression. Though not FDA approved, ketamine infusion clinics have arisen and become a current subject in media. This activity plans to present the peer-reviewed literature so that pharmacists and physicians can make informed decisions about the safety and efficacy of ketamine infusions for the treatment of resistant depression.
