Optimizing the EHR for Antimicrobial Stewardship: The Stanford Health Care Experience - On Demand

The electronic health record (EHR) is an integral tool in implementing many of the CDC’s recommended core elements of hospital antibiotic stewardship programs.  Technology can be optimized to play a role not only in the day-to-day tasks of a stewardship team member in identifying patients for antibiotic authorization or audit-and-feedback, but also for larger-scale interventions such as providing clinical decision support.    This talk will review ways in which antimicrobial stewardship programs can take advantage of the electronic health record to identify high yield interventions, communicate with teams, and create decision support for frontline teams.
