This session explores key supply chain risk factors impacting imaging operations and highlights practical strategies to strengthen resiliency in an increasingly complex environment. Attendees will gain insight into how product design and sustainability initiatives—aligned with MEPA procurement criteria—can reduce total cost of ownership across the imaging lifecycle. The discussion will also feature real-world examples demonstrating how sustainability and lifecycle thinking can drive both financial and environmental benefits. In addition, Northwestern Medicine will share its sustainability journey, including its strategic approach and specific initiatives implemented within diagnostic imaging.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:  

  • Identify key supply risk factors that impact imaging operations, including supply‑chain vulnerabilities. 
  • Discuss practical strategies to strengthen resiliency. 
  • Recognize how product design and sustainability initiatives, aligned with the Medical Equipment Proactive Alliance (MEPA) procurement criteria, can drive reductions in Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) across the imaging product lifecycle. 
  • Evaluate real‑world examples that demonstrate how sustainability strategies and lifecycle thinking improve both TCO and environmental impact.
