Pharmacotherapy Options for COVID-19: A Focus on Biopharmaceuticals

New Orleans, LA US
November 11, 2021

This activity will outline advances made in the management of COVID-19 for pharmacists, residents, and pharmacy technicians to help determine how to provide safe and efficacious therapy options for hospitalized and non-hospitalized COVID-19 patients. Landmark trials are investigating the use of biopharmaceutics, such as baricitinib in combination with remdesivir in hospitalized adults, REGN-COV2 for non-hospitalized in mild to moderate COVID-19 patients who are at high risk for progressing to severe COVID-19, and tocilizumab in COVID-19 pneumonia patients who are not receiving mechanical ventilation. This presentation will review primary literature behind the use of biopharmaceutical therapy for high risk of progressing to severe COVID-19 patients and severe COVID-19 patients and help explain their place in practice.
