The activity will provide an overview of the risk points in the medication administration process along with case examples of different types of errors at each of those risk points. We will then discuss medication safety technologies, focusing on barcoded medication administration and infusion pump integration and how they reduce medication administration errors. We will also highlight the types of errors they do not prevent/new errors identified, and how to identify and avoid workaround to safety systems.
