2026 Impact - W82 - Innovations in Asynchronous Care To Improve Specialty Access - On Demand
Stanford Health Care developed a comprehensive, technology-enabled ecosystem to augment asynchronous care models, strategically leveraging e-consults and artificial intelligence-enhanced patient messaging, including draft replies and result explanations. These innovations fundamentally improve access to specialty care by reducing both patient and provider barriers. Our presentation will detail the program's expansion to novel applications, such as e-consults with community providers and inpatient e-consults. We will discuss the significant impact on patient access and the substantial return on investment achievable through scalable asynchronous care, and also share performance measures, enabling technologies, and best practices for implementation.
