2026 Impact - T33 - Centralized Command: Improving Hospital Flow Through Visibility and Coordination - On Demand
What happens when hospitals centralize decision-making for patient movement? At Houston Methodist Willowbrook Hospital, a capacity center brought together teams and real-time analytics to better coordinate progression, reduce delays and improve throughput. At Northwell Health, a centralized operations center created shared visibility into flow, supporting faster problem-solving and measurable gains in length of stay, discharge timing and emergency department boarding. These efforts highlight how visibility and coordination can reshape daily operations — offering new ways to think about managing hospital capacity.
