2019 AROK Annual Pharmacy Summer CE Meeting

Participants will hear from six subject matter experts on a wide variety of topics. They will have a chance to raise questions and/or provide comments based on their own experiences and gain knowledge from each other during the presentations as well as during formal and informal networking opportunities.

Day 1

  1. Discuss the value of Early Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) programs and how to develop an ERAS program
  2. Determine various pharmacologic treatments used for multi-modal pain management
  3. Describe the current legal status and barriers for medical marijuana and summarize congressional changes to federal medical marijuana laws
  4. Review current and pending state legislation for medical marijuana nationwide and highlighting the Arkansas-Oklahoma network
  5. Review the performance of biosimilars and other strategies designed to mitigate the continued growth in pharmaceutical spend
  6. Discuss the critical interventions clinicians must take to manage cost, quality, and market performance within your organization


Day 2

  1. Explain proposed 2020 changes to Medicare reimbursement with operational changes required to implement them
  2. Outline strategies that cut cost and those that increase revenue
  3. Describe an organizational structure/model for a multidisciplinary drug diversion (DD) program for an acute care setting
  4. Recognize the impact of culture on the success of diversion prevention by listing three educational tactics to designed an reinforce DD culture of safety
  5. Identify reports needed to monitor drug diversion
  6. Recite one expectation of the accreditation standards/regulatory requirements for medication management
  7. Summarize effectively an organization’s current process to meet the intent of the standards/regulatory requirements
