2026 Impact - T22 - Beyond the Hospital: Scalable Models to Expand Access and Capacity - On Demand
As capacity constraints intensify, health systems are exploring scalable alternatives to inpatient care. At UCLA Health, the Next Day Clinic delivers high-acuity outpatient care within 20 hours of emergency department (ED) discharge, with randomized trial results showing more days at home, lower costs and no increase in readmissions. In a related approach, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania expanded an oncology evaluation center into a 24/7 advanced practice provider-led unit, integrating electronic medical record workflows to reduce ED boarding and length of stay. Join us to discover how rethinking care settings can improve access, throughput and patient outcomes.
