2026 Impact - T17 - Cost Management-Driven Facilities: Sourcing To Control Costs and Preserve Mission - On Demand
Mass General Brigham (MGB) is advancing a facilities and real estate strategic sourcing initiative under the nonclinical supplies and purchased services Sustain Program. Sustain is a cost management program at MGB focused on driving fiduciary responsibility throughout the organization in both labor and nonlabor expense management. The project focuses on systemwide resource stewardship to address rising expense growth that outpaces revenue. By targeting facilities-related spend categories, such as task chairs, elevator maintenance, construction and outsourced services, the initiative seeks to standardize sourcing, optimize supplier utilization and preserve financial capacity to support MGB’s mission of patient care, research, education and community service.
