2025 Nurse Residency Program Virtual Coordinator Training

January 28, 2025 to January 30, 2025

The Nurse Residency Program Virtual Coordinator Training will give participants the knowledge, information and tools needed to successfully implement the NRP within their organization and support the nurse resident in the first year of practice.  Participants will also have the opportunity to network with other coordinators and learn from their experiences.

Learning Objectives

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:  

Day 1: “NRP Leadership Training” and “Evidence in nursing practice” (2 hrs)

  • Explain the components of the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Identify strategies to support the successful transition of new to practice nurses into the profession
  • Define the benefits of the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Verbalize the purpose of integrating best evidence in the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Describe expectations of the ACE initiatives

Day 2: "Content expert and engagement strategies” and “Facilitator training” (3 hrs)

  • Describe the role of the content expert in the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Describe how to adapt content to different care areas and learner needs
  • Identify engagement opportunities when presenting content
  • Describe the role of the facilitator in the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Describe the purpose of clinical reflection time
  • Discuss how to adapt small group content to meet nurse residents’ need

Day 3:  “Data Insights” and “NRP Strategy”(2 hrs)

  • Verbalize the role that strategy development plays in achieving success of the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Identify 2 strategic priorities for the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Explain the surveys utilized in the Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
  • Describe how metrics can be used to evaluate Vizient/AACN Nurse Residency Program
