In her role as Accreditation Advisor, Diane Cullen brings extensive expertise in infection prevention and survey readiness to deliver comprehensive Regulatory and Accreditation Services. Her work includes conducting mock surveys, gap assessments and coaching during The Joint Commission (TJC) surveys, helping organizations ensure compliance with CMS conditions of participation and accreditation standards. Diane is also a seasoned educator, presenting on accreditation and CMS compliance topics both nationally and internationally.
With over 20 years of healthcare experience, Diane has excelled in leadership roles, including Director of Infection Prevention and Control and Employee Health. Her clinical foundation in medical-surgical ICU and infectious disease nursing provides a deep understanding of patient care and safety.
Diane's contributions to the field of infection prevention are distinguished by her role as a Subject Matter Expert at TJC, where she directed the development of tools and standards aimed at improving compliance with infection prevention practices. She has edited and contributed to multiple authoritative publications from TJC and Joint Commission Resources (JCR) and has successfully managed infection prevention strategies in complex healthcare settings, driving quality outcomes.
Diane’s extensive surveying experience stems from her tenure at TJC, where she conducted a wide range of surveys, including on-site Intracycle Monitoring, “For Cause” surveys and CMS condition-level deficiency follow-ups. She played a key role in developing the USP 797/USP 800 surveyor tool to enhance its utility for regulatory assessments. As part of the hospital surveyor training program, she completed advanced pharmacy survey training and served as the primary point of contact within the Standards Interpretation Group (SIG) for USP 797 surveyor inquiries, ensuring clarity and accuracy in guidance.
Diane earned a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Francis University, a master of science in nursing in population-based infection prevention and control from Loyola University, Maywood and a master of business administration from Western Governors University. She holds a certification in Infection Control.
